Little Italy Homes for Sale

Little Italy is bordered by Midtown to the north, Downtown's Columbia district to the south, Interstate 5, Bankers Hill and Cortez Hill to the east, and San Diego Bay to the west. This sloping landscape on the northern edge of San Diego Bay was once home to a highly successful tuna fishing industry and the many Italian families who derived a living from that industry. As the tuna industry declined and a significant portion of the neighborhood was disrupted by the construction of Interstate 5, Little Italy suffered decades of depreciation.

Today, Little Italy is bustling with activity with its fine restaurants, small cafes and coffee house, art galleries and specialty shops. This neighborhood is hosts many yearly cultural activities. This includes Festa, celebrating Italian heritage; Carnevale (Taste of Little Italy), where ld world meets new world in a celebration of music, dancing and costume; "Chalk La Strada," a Bocce Ball Tournament, ArtWalk, a jazz festival and Cinco de Mayo, St. Patrick's Day, and Holiday celebrations. Little Italy's lovely vistas offer an urban neighborhood with single-family homes, condominiums, lofts and apartments, and views of San Diego Bay. The architecture in Little Italy has a Mediterranean/Art Deco feel to it, unlike any other neighborhood in Downtown, and with its four piazzas, it exudes real old-word charm.
